Market Days

Newark is renowned for its international antique fairs and its market trading activities.  The Old Bakery is situated in the heart of the antiques district and is minutes from the market square in the town centre.

Just as in Medieval times, Newark is at its liveliest on market days.  There are antiques and crafts markets in the Market Place on Mondays and Thursdays.  You can also visit the auction market every Wednesday on the new Riverside Park.

Markets are held in NEWARK on the following days:-

  • Monday (except bank hols) - Antique, Craft and General Retail Market
  • Wednesday - General Retail Market
  • Thursday - Antique and Craft Market
  • Friday -  General Retail Market
  • Saturday - General Retail Market FARMERS MARKETS are held on the 4th Thursday of every month(except December when it is 3rd Thursday) in Newark and the second Friday of every month in Southwell.

Farmers Markets

Farmers' Markets provide a new way for local food producers to sell direct to the public. All produce is locally grown and freshly sold.  Produce includes:-

Vegetables, Jams, Pork, Honey, Ice Creams, Caribean Chutney, Dairy Produce, Ostrich Meat, Home Baked Goods, Fruit and more...

There are two Farmers' Markets in the District , with the first Farmers' Market taking place in Southwell in the Market Place on the 2nd Friday of the month , with a further Farmers' Market taking place in Newark Market Place on the 1st Wednesday of the month.

If you have got the time go along and visit one or all of the markets which start at 9.00am and continue until after lunch time.
